Raphael Kirchner's influence on contemporary illustrators:
The mysterious monogram

Signed with an undeciphered initials, this postcard by an anonymous publisher, on the back bears only “Nachdruck verboten” [reproduction prohibited], together with the numbering of the series 19, followed by the individual numbering of the postcard.
It is a drawing by Kirchner, but the initials are not his! From this series we have found other five pieces, all signed with the same monogram, but the other five drawings have nothing in common with the Viennese artist.

Firmata con una sigla indecifrata, questa cartolina di editore anonimo al retro riporta soltanto “Nachdruck verboten” [riproduzione vietata], insieme alla numerazione della serie 19, seguita da quella individuale della cartolina.
È un disegno di Kirchner, ma la sigla non è sua! Di questa serie abbiamo rintracciato altri cinque pezzi, tutti firmati con lo stesso monogramma, ma gli altri cinque disegni non hanno nulla in comune con l’artista viennese.
This illustration is one of 326 that Kirchner painted before the outbreak of World War I for Felicien Champsaur's book Le Bandeau. Kirchner drew several covers and illustrations for Champsaur's novels, but Le Bandeau was the richest of the attractive figures signed by the Austrian artist.

Raphael Kirchner from Le Bandeau by Felicien Champsaur
L’illustrazione qui riprodotta è una delle 326 che Kirchner eseguì prima dello scoppio della prima guerra mondiale per il libro Le Bandeau di Felicien Champsaur. Kirchner disegnò diverse copertine ed illustrazioni per i romanzi di Champsaur, ma Le Bandeau fu quello più ricco delle attraenti figure firmate dall’artista austriaco.
In July 1914 the same sketch reworked by Kirchner appeared on the cover of La Vie Parisienne, a slightly erotic magazine on which Raphael collaborated from 1912 to 1914; his contribution was abundant in covers and plates outside the text.
In August 1914 La Vie Parisienne interrupted its publication because of the war. The cover of the last issue still had a drawing by Kirchner. The magazine resumed a few months later, in December of the same year, but no longer with Kirchner's collaboration. It did, however, have the pleasure of offering its readers the precious portfolio De la brune à la blonde. La Vie Parisienne ended its publications in 1970.

La rivista riprese pochi mesi dopo, nel dicembre dello stesso anno, ma non più con la collaborazione di Kirchner. Ebbe però il piacere di offrire ai suoi lettori il prezioso portfolio De la brune à la blonde. La Vie Parisienne terminò le pubblicazioni nel 1970.
